If you have Paypal set up on your Magento 2 store, by default the ‘payment action’ will be set to ‘authorization’.
Once you receive an order through paypal, Magento will change the status to ‘processing’ (by default) but when you log into your paypal account, you see no new money in – just some ‘pending’ orders!
To unlock those pending orders, all you need to do is go to the order in Magento and process an invoice for that order.
You’ll notice now in Paypal that the money has been released and the order is no longer ‘pending’.
If you want to receive money as soon as a sale comes through, change your ‘payment action’ to ‘sale’ instead of authorization. This way the money clears into your Paypal account as soon as an order is placed.
